Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival Midnight Sun Watercolor Floating Camp.
Three and a half day Beginner-Intermediate Watercolor Workshop, July 25-28,
Monday-Friday, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Cove setting, wildlife, sea life, islands, woods. Beginner to Intermediate.
Outdoor sessions to paint, explore the local magnificent vistas.
Students will receive organized, step-by-step instruction to gain a technical foundation that will allow them to explore the art of Landscape Painting. Students will be encouraged to choose their own subjects to paint This class is for the beginner to intermediate level watercolor student who is interested in taking his/her painting skills to the next level. Learning water cycle, wet-in-wet, glazing and layering techniques will add to the students’ knowledge of watercolor painting. Instructor demonstrates and will discuss the many aspects of design and composition that enhance a watercolor. Creative challenges in the form of quick studies will teach the students when and how to use negative space, how to lift out color and how to enhance a center of interest, how to use linear and aerial perspectives to add depth to your painting. During the class, students will begin to find their own “painting style” with lessons on creativity.

- Help with processing the “catch of the day” if the guests decide to go fishing.
The float planes will be scheduled to depart Ketchikan for the Lodge on Monday July 24th in the late afternoon (4:30pm-5:30pm) as a group departure. All guests must be in Ketchikan no later than 3:30-4:00pm. Transportation to Ketchikan is not included in price. The return float plane transfers will be scheduled to depart the Lodge to Ketchikan Friday July 28th in the morning (6:30am-8:00am) again group departure, making for return flights home probably no earlier than 12:00pm.
Material List: Please bring your field easel, “Yarka” 24 colors watercolor set(recommended) or other,
1 inch flat, #10: #8: #6: #4: #2 round, synthetic or natural and small Rigger watercolor brushes.
Scrubber brush set, 4 or 5 (11” x 14”) Arches 140 lb Cold Press watercolor paper with support
(piece of foamboard, plastic or plywood), pencil, small notebook, 2 water containers.
